School Counselor
Ms. Alison Kaplan
Greetings! I am Ms. Kaplan and this is my 6th year serving as the School Counselor at Elizabeth D. Redd Elementary School. I am originally from the Boston, Massachusetts area, but I’ve grown a strong fondness for Richmond City and its welcoming community. I earned my Master of Education in School Counseling from Rivier University in Nashua, New Hampshire and my Bachelor of Arts from Wheelock College (now Boston University) in Boston, Massachusetts.
Here at Elizabeth D. Redd Elementary School, I work hard to provide student support and ensure a safe and positive learning environment. Throughout every week, I administer individual and group counseling, as well as conduct classroom guidance lessons in grades kindergarten through fifth. Through School Counseling services, students explore a plethora of topics that aide in academic success by supporting emotional development.
I also implement a school wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) program which aims to maximize academic achievement and positive social interactions throughout the entire school. All of the students at E.D. Redd Elementary School, our ‘Redd Lions’, have learned to ROAR. Redd Lions are Respectful, On task, Always Safe, and Responsible!
